Important distinction: Do NOT confuse with そうだ(伝聞)which uses plain form and means "I heard that." This そうだ is based on the speaker's own visual judgment, not reported information.

さいしょはみんなそうだよ。でもすこしずつかわるから、だいがくのじゅぎょうをきくのがすきになるよ。
うん、そうだね!こうかいしたくないから、じぶんできめるよ。
