Connection:

• A とか B とか: 映画とか音楽とか (movies and music and such)
• Lists examples implying there are more
• Very casual/informal

Pattern:

• Can list 2+ items: A とか B とか C とか
• Often ends with verb: A とか B とか する/好き/ある
• Less formal than や (nouns) or たり (verbs)

How to use:

• Nouns: 本とか雑誌とか (books and magazines)
• Verbs: 食べるとか飲むとか (eating and drinking)
• Mix: 映画を見るとか本を読むとか (watching movies and reading books)

とか…とか vs や:

• とか…とか = casual, spoken ("and stuff")
• や = formal, written ("and")
• Both imply incomplete lists

Examples:
