Clause + とはいうものの

[Although that is said / Having said that / Be that as it may]

Connection: Clause (plain form) + とはいうものの

Usage: Acknowledges the truth of the preceding statement but introduces a contrasting reality. "While that may be true, in reality..." Slightly more formal than とはいえ.

Examples:

春になったとはいうものの、まだ寒い日が続いている。(Although spring has come, cold days continue.)

合格したとはいうものの、ギリギリの点数だった。(Although I passed, it was by a very narrow margin.)

経験があるとはいうものの、この仕事は初めてだ。(Although I have experience, this job is new to me.)
