Connection: Verb (volitional form) + とも / い-Adj (く-form) + とも / Amount + とも

Usage: A formal/literary expression meaning "even if." Often used with expressions of determination or with quantity words to mean "at least."

Variations:

• 少なくとも (at least)
• 遅くとも (at the latest)
• 何があろうとも (no matter what happens)

Examples:

たとえ失敗しようとも、挑戦する価値はある。(Even if I fail, it's worth the challenge.)

遅くとも来週までには届くだろう。(It should arrive by next week at the latest.)
