まさか〜とは

Connection: まさか + Sentence + とは(思わなかった/思いませんでした)
Usage: Expresses strong surprise that something unexpected happened. Often followed by 思わなかった (didn't think) or similar.
Examples:
まさか合格するとは思わなかった。(I never expected to pass.)
まさかこんなところで会うとは。(Who would have thought we'd meet in a place like this.)
まさか彼が犯人だったとは驚いた。(I was shocked that he turned out to be the culprit.)
