Lists examples while implying there are more. など adds the meaning "and so on".
Structure:
- A や B など = things like A and B (and others)
- A や B や C など = things like A, B, and C (and others)
With/without など:
- りんごやバナナ (apples, bananas, etc.) — や alone already implies more
- りんごやバナナなど (things like apples and bananas) — など makes "and others" explicit
Examples:
- 日本語や中国語などを勉強しています (I'm studying languages like Japanese and Chinese)
- スーパーで肉や野菜などを買いました (I bought things like meat and vegetables at the supermarket)
