Usage: Expresses that something happened as a result of an excessive degree of emotion, state, or action. Often used with emotions (joy, sadness, surprise) or states (busyness, fatigue).
Examples:
嬉しさのあまり、涙が出た。(I was so happy that tears came out.)
緊張のあまり、頭が真っ白になった。(I was so nervous that my mind went blank.)
心配するあまり、夜も眠れなかった。(I worried so much that I couldn't sleep at night.)
