Connection: Sentence (plain form) + って

Usage: Casual version of と (quotation particle). Used to report what someone said or what you heard. Very common in spoken Japanese.

Functions:

• Quoting: 田中さんが来るって。(I heard Tanaka-san is coming.)
• Topic marker (casual という): 「JLPT」って何？(What is "JLPT"?)

Examples:

明日は雨だって。(I heard it's going to rain tomorrow.)

先生が宿題を出すって言ってたよ。(The teacher said they'd assign homework.)
