Usage: Describes being completely covered or smeared with something unpleasant — typically dirt, blood, sweat, mud, or debt. Always carries a negative connotation. The covering substance is something dirty, messy, or undesirable.

Key restriction: Only used with unpleasant substances. Cannot say 花まみれ (covered in flowers) — use だらけ for neutral/positive items.

Comparison:

• まみれ = covered/smeared with (only unpleasant things)
• だらけ = full of (can be neutral or negative)
• ずくめ = all/entirely (see entry 78)

Examples:

泥まみれになって子供たちが遊んでいる。(The children are playing, covered in mud.)

汗まみれのシャツを着替えた。(I changed out of my sweat-soaked shirt.)
