Usage 1 — Wishful thinking (potential + ものなら): Expresses a wish for something that the speaker knows is unlikely or impossible.
Usage 2 — Warning/threat (volitional + ものなら): Warns that if someone tries to do something, bad consequences will follow.
Examples:
